poolside lunch

yes it’s a hard life, taking our lunch by the pool on a sunny day in november here in beautiful marbella. yesterday we had a glorious meal at our hotel’s pool bar, and i was super excited to find a few things on the menu to enjoy. i ordered the gazpacho (when in spain…) and the melon with iberico ham (a childhood favourite). both were excellent, even though the chilled soup looked like it had cream in it. i asked our waiter who assured me that it was only vegetables, no crema. muy delicioso! not sure the photo below does it justice. our dinner of paella valenciana, on the other hand, was a bit of a nightmare. soooo salty. we were both awake half the night. yuck.

the cream problem may have arisen if you asked for ‘sin crema’ and the waiter, knowing your english-speaking routes, thought you were asking for ‘sun cream’. no? ok, sorry. bye.
