HAWMC: Health Tagline

For the month of April, I’m participating in the Health Activist Writer’s Month Challenge from Wego Health. Each day I’ll be writing a health-related post based on the HAWMC prompts, aiming to challenge myself as a writer and health activist. Thanks for following!

The Particular Kitchen:

Make the best food choices for your health

I’ve been meaning to come up with a tagline for my blog as well as my nutrition practice. This could well be a work in progress, but I like what I’ve chosen for now: Make the best food choices for your health!

Nutrition is such an individualized subject – everyone feels differently on different diets, so for me it’s about finding that perfect balance and coming up with the right combination to make you feel great. The idea of choice is an important one: the word “particular” might carry some negative connotations, such as being picky or finicky. Instead, I like to view it as having a positive impact on your health through making good choices. As I’ve mentioned many times before, each day we’re faced with multiple moments of choice that will directly affect our health. For example, the time we wake up in the morning (and whether or not we hit the snooze button) will impact our stress levels if we’re feeling rushed and hurried to get out of the door to work on time. It will also affect breakfast – will we even have time for breakfast or will we skip it and grab something later? It will affect our energy levels too – hitting that mid-morning and mid-afternoon slump, and feeling completely exhausted when we get home at the end of the day. It might impact our mood as well – feeling upset, overwhelmed, or frustrated with all that needs to get done. And all of these reactions affect our health in both the short-term and the long-term.

Some of these situations leave us with very little choice, and that’s to be expected. We can’t control everything. As long as we try and make the best choices we can along the way, that negative impact will be reduced and we’ll feel ready to take on the day.

So, for now, I’m going to stick with this tagline. It’s a good motivator to be mindful of our bodies!

  1. I love that example – my day can be so defined by whether I wake up early and do the things I want to… or whether I just hit snooze!

  2. Cam says:

I’ve always preferred to think of “particular” as meaning “discerning”.

And talking of making best food choices for my health… your food diary is SCARY. I never realized how much rubbish I ate in a day!
